Registration & Renewal


All nurses who wish to practice nursing in Newfoundland and Labrador must obtain registration with CRNNL and a license to practice. Registration and licensure is governed by the Registered Nurses Act (2008) and Registered Nurses Regulations (2013).

New Graduate   Internationally-Educated Nurse (IEN)
Canadian Applicant   Nurse Practitioner


CRNNL's licensure year runs from April 1 to March 31. Members can renew their practicing license or non-practicing membership through MyCRNNL.

Nurse Registration Examinations

Applicants for registration as a Registered Nurse and applicants for initial licensure as a Nurse Practitioner are required to successfully pass the registration/licensure exam(s) approved by Council.
