Resolutions are an important way that members of ARNNL can raise issues for discussion by colleagues at the ARNNL Annual Meeting, and call for action by the elected representatives. Resolutions may be submitted by groups or individual ARNNL members. Resolutions can be submitted by mail, fax or email. View ARNNL guidelines on submission of resolutions. The deadline for submission of resolutions is May 8, 2018.
The Smoking Cessation Program aims to improve access to quit smoking medications and nicotine replacement products by contributing to the cost of these products for individuals who are eligible under the Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program (NLPDP).
Quality of Care NL/Choosing Wisely NL’s antibiotics campaign continues with a new video to raise awareness about antibiotics overuse: this week, we’re busting the myth that if you’re still sick after a week, you need antibiotics.

Effective October 24, ARNNL Council approved the Canadian Nurses Association's (CNA) 2017 edition of the Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses as the authoritative criteria to guide ethical registered nurse (RN) practice for all ARNNL members, replacing the CNA's 2008 edition of the Code of Ethics.
On October 20th, 2017, ARNNL Council approved a change in the scope of NP practice and designated Buprenorphine-Naloxone (Suboxone) and Methadone as drugs NPs, who meet the specified practice and education requirements, may prescribe for the treatment of opioid dependence or pain management as deemed appropriate for the specific client. NPs must complete ALL of the identified education and practice requirements to prescribe Buprenorphine-Naloxone (Suboxone) and Methadone.
To mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation, CNA recognized some of the nurses who continue to pioneer health innovation in Canada and around the world. The Association is honouring 150 nurse innovators and champions in health care with profiles on their website. Of the 150 nurses, 10 are from Newfoundland and labrador. The Centre for Collaborative Health Professional Education are looking for one or two RNs, LPNs, or NPs to fill the role of professional consultant for an activity this fall. Experience in a community health setting would be an asset for this role. This year the activity, called IPE Team Functioning, will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday, September 22, 2017.
