Scholarships are awarded annually to Registered Nurses enrolled in a Master of Nursing or a Doctorate of Nursing program. The Dr. Elizabeth Summers Graduate Study Award is presented to the applicant in the Master of Nursing category who is ranked highest by the Trust Awards Committee. All Master of Nursing Program applicants will be considered for both the Trust Master of Nursing Scholarship and the Dr. Elizabeth Summers Graduate Study Award.
A prior recipient of this scholarship is not eligible to re-apply.
Value: $2000 (full-time) or $1000 (part-time)
Part-time is defined as enrolled in less than three courses per semester.
Application Deadline: October 15th
- Funding decisions for the Fall competition will be made in mid-late November.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for this scholarship:
- be enrolled (full-time or part-time) in a nursing graduate program at a recognized university,
- have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in their previous nursing program (Baccalaureate for Master's applicants and Master's for Doctoral applicants),
- demonstrate an above average level of interest/industry in a particular area of nursing,
- not be a prior recipient of the scholarship for which they are applying.
- be a member in good standing with ARNNL, and
- be a member of the ARNNL Education & Research Trust.
Note: Preference will be given to applicants who have completed at least one year of their program.
All ARNNL members with a current practicing license are members of the ARNNL Education & Research Trust. ARNNL members with a current non-practicing license can become a member of the Trust by paying the $10 Trust membership fee.

Applications must be completed using the Graduate Nursing Scholarship Application Form.
Late applications will not be considered.
You are required to provide additional documentation to support your application. The Application Requirements document includes a checklist of supporting documentation that must be submitted in order for your application to be considered complete. All supporting documentation (including references and transcripts) must be received at ARNNL House by the application deadline.

The Awards Committee will rank the applicants on the basis of the following criteria (in order):
- academic ability,
- potential contribution to the nursing profession,
- personal statement, and
- financial need (as determined by whether the applicant has received funding from other sources; personal financial information is not used).
Note: The scholarship must be used in the academic year in which it is granted.
